Two examples of the Council's land grab for green space.

An essential development but not on one of the remaining green spaces in East Pollokshields when there are other brown field sites where planning gain could accomodate this development.

Read about Pollok Park and weep - the GoApe lease has already been signed and NOW we have a consultation??

I admire your campaign and think it's a disgrace what Purcell and his cronies have done, they've managed to do what Thatcher couldn't. They've helped turn the clock back to the 19th century where the titled and wealthy dictate what the minions will see and do.

Common Good meet-up - At Electron Club Sunday 20 Oct 2:00pm Free
What can we do to protect our Common Good? What are the dangers of privatising it? A major business bombardment has started to threaten our parks, our institutions, our open space. There are a few hackles beginning to rise as the business template for our city assets begins to unfold. This is not just a local but a growing national concern, in all our cities.
So the questions are:
Do you know what the Common Good is?
Do you know what is happening to it?
Do you know how it may affect you, if business is in charge of it?
Do you know why you should be interested?

Not so obvious answers as a New Labour run city has decided that democracy means (to them) If you vote them in, they can then do as they please with our collective cultural and material assets

Great site and hopefully will lead to a change. We've had a trust here for a couple of years for the museums and the so-called financial benefits of having this setup have never materialised.

Splendid website about a thoroughly reprehensible issue, the more this is aired in public, the better!

Thanks for such a lovely video, I had a wee tear in my eye at the end.

The sad fact is that Glasgow City Council is divesting itself of the important aspects of the responsibilities of councillors, so that they can swan off on junkets around the world, kidding us on they're doing it for our benefit.

They have outsourced housing, museums, libraries and learning and social development, so why do we still need the same amount of these leeches as when we they still had responsibility for the afore-mentioned assets of the people of Glasgow?

The quicker we get rid of these free-loading, incompetent slackers, the better we will all be, and the lower or council tax bill will become!

Disgusted from Glasgow.

I am also very annoyed with the underhand, and sly way this Council is behaving - their tactics and publicity stunts do little or nothing to lure support from the public.

Why cant we just have a more open, transparent and honest style of governing with someone who has the gall to put their hands up and admit their mistakes - for once in their life.

The way in which Purcell is grooming the media to his own aim is far from healthy, and I read the Evening Times and other papers with far more scepticism now, than I ever did. His points scoring routines are getting boring!

Unfortunately "People Power", this is how the council have always done their business. There's nothing new there. "transparent and honest"? Here also there is no mistake, everything's running to plan. Purcell is laughing at the utter complicity of the Glasgow public, who let him happily toddle along with his plan to sell what he can before his time is up. I don't have a problem understanding that. That's what's always happened at the chambers. (Maybe not to such a grand scale). The problem lies with the indifference of the public, academia, party politicians, involved in short term power struggles, who are sitting on there hands in case they find themselves part of the system themselves someday. People Power, is the only thing that will take the profit margin smile off Purcell's face and stem the flow of public money into the pockets of business developers - and he knows it

Are the people up for it though?
